Acne is a skin condition characterized by plugging and inflammation that involves hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Due to the over activity of sebaceous gland at the base of hair follicles leads to bacterial infection and pus formation.

There are many factors which can contribute towards the formation of acne like hormones (androgens or estrogens), genetic factor, acne lesions, bacteria formation on skin, improper diet, Vitamin deficiency and stress. Although acne can be treated in weeks but it lasts its psychological effect for months. There are many treatments being suggested for acne, but giving proper attention to diet and eating habits can make a lot of difference.

Usually diet is dependent on the life style, past and current health status and body type. One has to make the decision and choose the right food. An individual should be aware about the food which is allergic to the body. These allergic food substances are not only responsible for acne lesions but also can worsen the conditions. When an individual has a food which is allergic to body, immune system will respond to allergens by creating specific toxic materials. These toxic substances are later expelled from the skin and can be one of the reasons for formation of acne. Some of the non-allergic foods can also cause and worsen the condition.

For example, although chocolate seemed to show no effect on acne breakouts, a study by Swartz and associates (1916) showed a link between hypoglycemia and acne. On the other hand, a study done by Levin and Kahn (1922) showed no significant changes in the biochemical blood sampling between subjects with acne and those without. In a review of literature, Implications for the Role of Diet in Acne, Dr. Cordain again found discrepancies and design flaws within studies dealing with the connection between acne and drinking cokes and the consumption of high fat foods.

Foods like pasteurized dairy products (like milk, cheese or yogurt) can aggravate the condition and hence should be avoided. Fast foods, ready foods or food which are fried or deep fried or contain hydrogenated oil should not be taken. Items containing refined flour (like biscuits, cakes, white bread or pasta) should be taken at the minimum. Low glycemic foods (low-sugar) can help to improve the condition.

One should avoid extreme food variations like totally avoiding fat or including fat in the diet as these can affect and influence the secretions from sebaceous glands. Make sure to include fresh vegetables in your diet. Vitamins help to nourish your skin and also help in healing faster. Try to select the healthy foods and fruits that contain Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Whole raw food or unprocessed items may be selected as compared to over-processed items.

Acne which does not improve by self-care and are severe should be evaluated by doctor or health care professional. It is always better to have honest look at life and select the items which are beneficial for health.br

Your Skin May Only Need an Average Acne Medicine

Acne seems to come at the worst time in life. A time when outward appearance is one of the most important factors of life. It can cause quite a bit of anxiety and the desire to rid the skin of pimples is sympathized with. With this desire comes the result of trying out different acne medicines.

The Two Main Anti-Acne Fighters

One of the leading ingredients used to fight acne is Benzoylperoxide. This ingredient is effective against P.acne, the bacteria that causes acne. It will also rid the skin of oils, drying the skin so it will peel. Though this may cause some discomfort, it helps renew the skin which will heal old acne marks.

Acne is essentially the clogging of pours. An excellent way to prevent this is with the chemical salicylic acid. This chemical will slow down the shedding of cells inside follicles. This process will prevent clogging, thus reducing the chance of acne. This helps with the very difficult acne conditions, such as blackheads and whiteheads.

Both of these ingredients are found in easy to find over the counter acne medicines. You can find them in popular stores in the form of face washes, ointments, gels, scrubs and astringents. If used properly and consistently, acne breakouts can be greatly reduced. Most of these are relatively inexpensive and have no harmful side effects.

Though acne is a great discomfort, especially if you are younger, it is not always wise to request prescription drugs. Dermatologists may recognize your anxiety and resort to drugs by default. You may be prescribed topical or oral antibiotics which are not only expensive acne medicines, but may also yield harmful side effects, including: photosensitivity, nausea and vomiting.

In conclusion, there are many approaches to treating acne, however, for mild cases, the use of an over the counter acne medicine may be the best choice. If you visit a dermatologist, be wary if is first response to your anxiousness is to prescribe strong, unnecessary drugs for a mild case of acne. Be patient. With time and proper care, your skin will clear up without having to depend on harsh chemicals or strong drugs.br

Most of you with acne must feel as in a battle. The battle of finding effective acne medicines.

Even with the option of selecting from over-the-counter and prescribed medicines available in the market, it is still very difficult to choose an effective medicine for acne as there are hundreds and thousands of medicines available under both the medicinal categories title.
At this stage a dermatologist should be consulted with. He or she can guide you through this search and help you with investing your money in the right medicine.
Whether an acne medicine is effective or not, it can be known only when you try it and this has made the selection of acne medicines somewhat more difficult. Even in the case if the medicine is prescribed to you by a dermatologist, the only way of assuring that the medicine will be effective to your acne condition is the trying of the medicine.
For your convenience we are giving a two-step plan in the following which will help you in finding the best acne medicine for yourself and in the end of the plan you will have virtually complete acne codex that will be further helpful to you.
1. Look for the acne medicines that treat acne from inside out and they guarantee it.

Since acne is not only a simple skin condition, it is important to treat it from inside. In general, acne is related to some dysfunction of the organism – hormonal unbalances are the most common causes – and for this reason it is meaningless treating only the skin when the real problem lies on the inside. When acne occurs, it is a sign that something is going wrong.

2. Look for the side effects that are caused by acne medicines.

Take action on the above two-step plan and discover a glowing you./pbr

Benzoyl Peroxide Versus Salicylic Acid in Acne Treatment

In the race to treat acne effectively, aggressively, and quickly, there are two main leaders that consistently stand out. These two medications are undoubtedly the best at offering acne sufferers a high quality and powerful product at a low price, and can both easily be obtained without prescriptions in nearly every drugstore and supermarket within America. Let’s explore the drawbacks and benefits to the two individual products here to best determine which is the product you cshould choose in aiming to treat your acne problems. The most common over the counter medicinal treatment to remove blackheads is with either Benzoyl Peroxide or Salycilic Acid.

Let’s first explore Salicylic Acid to see what this drug can do for acne sufferers. With a highly acidic base, Salicylic Acid is most known for its ability to draw out blackheads and clear pores before infections and inflammation have begun. Although it can indeed offer treatment in the form of drying after an inflammation has started, the reality is that it does serve better as a preventative treatment or face cream to use on a nightly basis to prevent acne rather than to treat its eventual eruption.

On the other hand, Benzoyl Peroxide is another useful, and perhaps more powerful medicine well able to treat and prevent acne. Although Benzoyl Peroxide is typically thought of only in terms of treatment after the eruiption or inflation of a pimple, the reality is that some doctors argue that Benzoyl Peroxide may indeed be more effective at preventing pimples, zits, whiteheads and blackheads than Salicylic Acid. Ultimately, though, it depends up the individual to choose with method works best.

Cora Parks is passionate about solving acne problems, and recommends that you educate yourself about types of acne, like back acne or bacne, as well as treatment options like Duac and Benzoyl Peroxide.

While it is true that in most cases acne can be safely and effectively treated with over the counter treatments any time you have an unusual skin condition it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. The doctor can provide you with valuable advice on treating the condition even if it is only acne.

Severe acne should always be treated by a dermatologist, they can provide prescription medication that is effective at treating the more sever acne outbreaks. Moderate and mild acne can usually be treated without the advice of a doctor but even with moderate acne prescription medications may be able to treat it better and faster then over the counter solutions.

Medications for treating acne are given in one of two forms; oral or topical. In many cases the doctor will use a combination of both types to treat the outbreak. Antibiotics are frequently used to treat acne and can be provided in either form. Other topical medications will usually include ingredients such as zinc and retinoids.

The most common antibiotic for treating acne is tetracycline. It works with a dual action both killing the acne causing bacteria as well as helping to reduce the inflammation. Antibiotics are not an immediate fix and will usually have to be taken for weeks or even months before the acne clears up, you will also have to continue the antibiotic even after the acne clears up to prevent a re-occurrence. There are some side effect reported with the use of tetracycline, with extreme sensitivity to the sun being the most common one. Any one taking tetracycline needs to be very careful about exposure to sunlight to avoid severe sunburns. Some people may also experience nausea, hives and even dizziness.

Women undergoing treatment with tetracycline may notice an increase in vaginal yeast infections. Young children and pregnant women cannot take tetracycline because it can cause discoloration of growing teeth.

Ointments that contain antibiotics have a lower rate of reported side effects. These ointments will kill the bacteria and but there can be some cases of the bacteria becoming resistant to the antibiotics. Combining other medications such as; benzoyl peroxide with the antibiotic lotion can greatly reduce the chance of such problems.

Retinoids are a derivative of vitamin A and are usually applied directly the skin in the form of a lotion or cr?me. The use of topical retinoid medications is very effective in treating blackheads and whiteheads. It produces the positive results by cleaning out the pores that cause the acne; the only common side affect is dry skin.

If the acne is severe and is not responding to other treatments then an oral retinoid medication may be used. This will cause the top layer of skin to peel off which will also open the pores. The oral retinoids also cause the body to create less sebum, which also reduces the acne issues by reducing the oil on the skin.

There can be some rather serious side effects associated with using oral retinoid medications. Since they can cause serious birth defects any woman on oral retinoids should use two forms of birth control to avoid the possibility of pregnancy. They can also cause depression and liver damage so anyone using these medications must be closely monitored by their doctor.

There are some other medications that have the side effect of helping with acne. In some women birth control pills help reduce acne by changing the hormone levels and reducing the testosterone levels. Zinc can also be used to treat acne.

How to Treat Acne Scars

Acne scars usually reflect the severity of their acne. More severe acne scars mean more severe. Acne can often only faded away to leave a mark where it was raised or when, or even small craters in severe cases. This redness often vanish within months or a year, but in some cases, acne scars can be permanent. Fortunately, you can take steps to reduce the scar or make it disappear. The benefits of sunscreen may know that wearing sunscreen protects skin against sun damage, but no more than that. Exposure to harmful rays of the sun not only causes more damage to your skin, but can prevent the damage earlier as a way to cure acne scars. The scars take longer to heal with sun exposure or can not heal everyone. Wearing sunscreen helps to allow the skin to complete its own natural healing process. You may not know, but without passing through the sunscreen and stay in the sun during the hours that have kept the scars where they are. Surgical Options If acne scars are serious enough, then they can be surgically removed. This may seem contradictory, because everybody knows that you get scars from surgery. Would not this be a case of trading a scar on the other? Indeed, it can improve the appearance of your skin. A doctor can remove acne scarring, and suturing the skin around it together. This can serve to dramatically reduce the appearance of acne scars or you can remove acne scars completely. It is certainly not the first option is chosen and is certainly not the cheapest. But for some it may be the best option, or at least faster. Laser Treatments laser process is known as another response to more severe acne scars and works both in the same way as microdermabrasion. In this case, lasers used to remove the upper layers of the skin. Then, the skin heals just as normal, and the scar is completely removed. Of course, the laser process will have to remove enough skin to remove scars and therefore the depth of skin removed will depend entirely on the severity and depth of acne scars. The complete elimination of scars sounds wonderful and indeed it is, but this process can be painful. You are, after all, burn the layers of the skin on the face. Extreme care must be taken after surgery because the skin more vulnerable to damage without the layers of protection than the skin. Obviously, you must avoid the sun during recovery, and may want to avoid, in general public places until his face had the opportunity to heal. On the positive side, provided they do not experience more acne scars cause his scars are gone forever, but it certainly would be better to wait until your acne clears before using this method of removal of the scar. Treating acne scars can be as simple as letting your skin heal itself or can be complicated enough to require surgical procedures or laser treatments. The positive note in all this is that acne scars can be treated. At least, you can improve and may even be able to eliminate completely.
